T4t — T4T flag with gender symbols intertwined

T4T, or Trans for Trans, describes a transgender person who strongly or exclusively prefers to surround themself with other transgender people, regardless if it is in a platonic, romantic, or sexual way. It is not its own sexuality or attraction, but it can be joined with a person's sexuality to better describe them: for example: gay T4T, bi T4T, etc.

There are various reasons a trans person could choose to be T4T. These reasons may stem from negative or traumatic experiences with or from cisgender people like abuse, or more personal reasons to not wish to "deal with" cisgender people's ignorance and having to be their "learning experience" rather than a true interpersonal relationship. More positive reasons may be that trans people want to revolve their lives and experiences celebrating trans joy, and may feel more connected and safe with people who understand the lived experiences of being a transgender person.

On June 27th, 2018, an anonymous user on Tumblr submitted several flag reposts to the blog beyond-mogai-pride-flags, coining "someone-loving-someone" terms.^[1] Among them was their term "TLT (trans-loving-trans): Campion," and the earliest known design of the T4T flag. The original post was from May 31st, 2018.^[2]

On January 2nd, 2021, Tumblr user polyamaesthetic uploaded a moodboard where they included an edited flag from the "TLT / Campion" flag, which they dubbed the "T4T/TLT" flag.^[3] In the thread, Tumblr user arco-pluris asked if this was a redesign of sheir "TLT/campion" flag.^[4]

On January 12th, 2021, arco-pluris posted the edited version of sheir flags adapted by polyamaesthetic in June 2020.^[5]
